MAGNUM is a moderately framed stallion with exceptional jumping ability. As a 5 year old, MAGNUM represented the US in the YJC Continental Finals, in Monterrey, Mexico and was the best US based horse. He went on to have a career in the Young Jumpers through Grand Prix show jumping. MAGNUM was ranked the leading active sire of YJC horses in 2008, and was 2nd in 2009!

Holsteiner breeders in Germany used MATLON XX, MAGNUM's grandsire, from 1965 when he was imported, until 1981 when he died. MARLON XX reached his peak in 1975 when he became Germany's leading sire of event horses. That same year, he was ranked second in earnings of offspring among all German sires of conformation and suitability event horses. He sired a phenomenal 21 approved stallion MARLON XX, an Irish thoroughbred, exerted much influence in the Holstein breed due to his versatility as a sire. One of his most notable sons was MENTOR, shown by Otto Becker and the stallion MAGNAT Z who stood at Zangersheide.

On MAGNUM's dams side he goes back to CALYPSO II is by one of the greatest stallions that ever lived, COR DE LA BRYÈRE who had 41 approved sons such as CALANDO I to V, CALETTO I to III, CALVADOS I and II, CALYPSO I to V, CORRADO I and II, CORTINO I and II, COME BACK I and II, CORTEZ I and II, CARDINAL, CARACAS, CONSTANT, CONVENT, CANSAS, CANTARES, CASSONE, CANNONBALL, CAPRICCIO, CORVADO, CINZANO, CORDS BOY VZ, CORDALME Z, CADENCE Z, CORDEUR, CHAIRMAN, CICERO, CORIALL, CARNEVAL, CASTOR, COUNTDOWN, COR DE BRILLANT, COR D' ALME Z, CAPITAL, CARTE D' OR, CARUSO, CABARET, CALIMBO, CASH, CASANOVA, CHACO, CHANTRE, CHIRON Z, MR. WARTHBURG was born in 1962 and was bought as a weanling by Baron Friedrich Christian de Kielmansegg. After a competition career as a jumper, she produced the filly JENNI, by the Thoroughbred stallion, LITTLE LION XX - JENNI is the dam of ORCHIDEE, who was a member of the gold medal winning German jumping team at the Seoul Olympic Games with Dirk Hafemeister. ORCHIDEE in turn was the dam of AVION (Athlet Z) ridden in International competition by Ludger Beerbaum. WARTHBURG then produced six foals by LADYKILLER XX. LANDGRAF I was born in 1966, LANDGRAF I had a very good temperament which he passes on dominantly, together with excellent movement. In 1970 WARTHBURG produced another filly, LANDGRAEFIN who was ridden in the 70's and 80's by Hugo Simon, winning many speed and puissance classes. Later on LANDGRAEFIN was bred to COR DE LA BRYERE, LANDGRAEFIN produced the stallion CASH, who also competed Internationally with Hugo Simon.
