Bruce is a colt born February 9, 2017 (AQHA registration NCSU Leos Bartender). He was weaned May 18, 2017 and is eating grain and hay well. Bruce is up to date on deworming and vaccinations . He has been worked with weekly since birth on leading, picking up hooves, and being groomed. He was born at the NCSU College of Veterinary medicine.|

NCSU LEOS BARTENDER "Bruce" : A quarter horse colt by BB Leo Hangten Peppy out of Rockin Hot Barmaid. Bruce is a well-balanced gelding standing straight in the leg with well-defined muscling in the shoulder and hindquarters. He shows great breed character in his build around the neck and through the topline. His bloodlines and build give him potential in reining. His sire has finished top five at Congress three times and his grandsire, Hang Ten Surprize, has earned over $133,000 in NRHA competitions and has multiple champion and reserve champion titles.

He has also been used for teaching purposes in multiple classes at NCSU and NCSU CVM including ANS 411: Management of Growing and Performance Horses taught by Dr. Paul Siciliano (recipient of the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) and the Equine Science Society (ESS) 2017 Equine Science Award). This course is an overview of scientific applications used in management of growing and performance horses. Topics include: nutrition and feeding, disease prevention, exercise conditioning, and methods of evaluation and selection. Through this class, Bruce has been halter broken, desensitized, and taught to get on and off of a trailer.

Bruce's sire, BB Leo Hangten Peppy, is a 2008 buckskin stallion with a Register of Merit in reining and has finished in the top five at the Congress three times. His grandsire, Hang Ten Surprize, has earned over $133,000 in NRHA competitions and has multiple champion and reserve champion titles. Bruce's dam, Rockin Hot Barmaid, is a 2009 brown mare that competed in barrel racing.
