Red Velvet
Small Hunter and Thoroughbred Hunter Prospect

The Horse
Abby (JC-Angel Buzz), shown locally under the name Red Velvet, is a safe, sweet, kind, even-tempered 8 year old 15.2-½ hh Thoroughbred mare. She is ready to go on to the shows, preferably in a training program, with a good child or adult rider. She is regretfully offered for sale due to my health issues. Abby deserves to continue in her development. I have had a wonderfully rewarding, fun time training this former race horse into a Hunter. Abby is micro-chipped and eligible everything for the A or B circuits.

At Shows
In spite of limited local schooling show experience over the last two summers, she has ribboned well in whatever Division she was shown in. The circuit also offers a Thoroughbred Incentive program and she's won money and gift certificates. This year she started at 2`6 and 2`9. Look and she tends to land on the correct leads; she learns the courses at the shows. She has great feet and has shown barefoot. I put shoes on her for the first time this year for the 2`9. She loads easily and when it's time to go home, she'll load by herself!

At Home
She is well-versed in her ground work. Abby lunges free, in a rope halter, side-reins or chambon; also long-lines. Her flatwork includes the dressage basics and she won a Disciplined Rail class at a local open show last year against the Western Dressage horses. She enjoys being turned out to play; she loves the jump chute and is not impressed until the jumps are 3`0-3`6. Trail rides around the farm. She's got a soft mouth and goes in simple snaffles.

Care/Grooming
She is a very easy keeper. Quiet heat cycles. She may bite at the cross-ties when her belly is groomed; generally relaxed and yawning. Good to bathe. No stall vices. Vacuums. She cross-ties in the stall and direct ties to the trailer at shows. My developmentally challenged elderly resident can groom her and lead her around at home and at shows. She is current on all vaccinations and de-worming. She is good to clip and mane pull; I've not body-clipped her for WI winters. Wears blankets well. She is well behaved for the farrier and the vet.

Living
She lives compatibly in a small herd with two other horses at this time; gets along with mares and geldings and has been a big help raising my two year old filly since the filly was weaned.
