A Montana native, Karen ranches with her husband in the Gallatin Valley outside of Bozeman, Montana. Collectors and buyers appreciate the insight and knowledge she has for her subjects which is critical to the believability and honesty of her work. Karen recognizes the importance of painting familiar subjects and strives for accuracy in the anatomy of the animals she paints, as well as their personality and unique behavior. Working with horses on the ranch gives her an intimate understanding of their sense of movement, their confirmation and what makes each one the individual they are. She also has a deep appreciation for their dedication, their heart, and their strength, especially when working cattle. Karen says, They sure make my job a whole lot easier! I am blessed to have them in my life.
