Bronze - 10" x 11" x 4"

Edition 1 of 15

Notes:

Born to an Air Force family, Jan discovered her love for horses and the outdoors at a young age on visits to her grandparent's ranch. While she was away, she drew horses from pictures she found in magazines and dreamed of the West.

Through high-school and college her passion for horses and the western way of life grew. Her best friends were four-footed creatures that naturally became the subjects that filled her sketchbooks. However, until she visited Santa Fe on her honeymoon, she hadn't considered art as anything more than a hobby. With encouragement from her horse-trainer husband and an inquisitive mind, Jan developed her ability to express, first in clay and later in paint, the things that touched her heart.

For over thirty years now Jan has made her home in a rural ranch community, training her eye, honing her craft and working cattle. Her proficiency as a sculptor and painter enable her to render the western way of life she loves so much with tremendous feel and accuracy.

Today her work travels from her studio in southeastern Colorado all across the United States, while her work for the National Cutting Horse Association takes her sculpture around the globe. Whether she is painting or sculpting, Jan's goal is the same: “to capture the spirit and beauty of this earthly experience, and to encourage others to see, feel, enjoy, and appreciate it.”
