NOTE: Buyer can purchase as many AQHA Retained (Frozen) Semen Rights Permits as they want through Fossil Gate Farm at a cost of $90 for each Permit until July 31, 2022.

In order to register a foal that is the result of a breeding with frozen semen there must be a frozen semen permit signed by the owner of record of the stallion to accompany the registration application.  The buyer of the semen must estimate the number of foals they plan to register from the semen bought and purchase that many permits from Fossil Gate.  Fossil Gate will sell the permits through July 31 to allow a buyer time to calculate how many they need. 
 
Frozen Semen permits can be transferred.  See 2022 AQHA Rulebook, Rule Reg111, pages 63 and 64 for AQHA rules for using frozen semen.
 
Suggestion: If a buyer of one of these lots of frozen semen is planning to resell the semen, they could begin advertising once the semen is paid for.  There may be enough orders to help figure the number of permits needed.
 
Buyers of Frozen Semen should contact Weatherford Equine to understand storage and shipping policies and cost involved with shipping smaller quantities of semen to subsequent buyers.
 
 FYI – In years past we found that for many stallions, registrations were about 75% of the mares bred.
