Notes:

Fearless Bay is a 13 year old, 16.0 hh Jockey Club registered, Virginia-bred and registered Thoroughbred mare that has been used as a broodmare.

She has had four foals; all live covered by Ruxton Farm's Fierce Wind; three have been raced and an unraced fourth foal: Mr. Bossy 4/16/13; Sheet Lightning 4/12/14; Tolaga Bay 4/14/16 and Fierce Independent, owned by Amber Farm Inc, 5/07/17. I bought the pair through this auction site 9/28/17; my interest being in the foal at side as a Hunter prospect.

I realized what a nice mare Fearless Bay is, and attempted to (artificially inseminate) breed her late in the (hot summer) season of 2018 with no luck. She did have several uterine infections at purchase which have been successfully treated; a healed cervical scar was discovered; the vet preformed a caslick operation to assist in keeping the mare's reproductive tract clean yet with enough room for artificial breeding access. Plans were to breed her this year, however, the stallion owner is having to move the breeding operation during breeding season and cannot commit to providing semen in a timely manner for this mare in 2019.

Since I have to wait, I have decided not to breed this mare in favor of using her filly in the future. I have attached photos of Fierce Independent as well so you can see what Fearless Bay produces.

Fearless Bay came with a fused left front fetlock, cause unknown; she is on and off sound. Wet, humid weather seems to bother her the most. I have used the long-lines and groundwork to rehabilitate this mare; I have not ridden this horse. I have improved her physically with nutrition; using a little Corn Oil, Di-Calcium phosphate and Glucosamine/MSM supplements with minimal grain and plenty of hay. It is cold here in WI most of the year and the horses spend a bulk of their time in my indoor arena. The mare does not grow much of a winter coat, so she has worn blankets in the winter, fly sheets in the summer.

She enjoys being spoiled, however I think she would be very happy back in a broodmare band again. She is a dominant herd leader and would make an excellent broodmare, baby-sitter, or herd balancer. She can be employed here for the same purposes but I have had to grudgingly accept that at my age, I can do it all, just not as fast, long, or hard as I used to! So two horses to keep and train are enough for me. Thank you!
