Hip 147: Moonlit Stall by Dorinda Cassiday

Oil on board - 24" x 18"
Notes:

Now a full-time freelance artist after retiring from a forty-year public education career she has been able to rediscover her passion for painting especially animals and specifically horses. Her lifelong love for horses started as a young girl's fantasy and became a reality with a mare named Beauty. Currently a horse appropriately named Déjà vu holds that space in her heart.
Dorinda says, “One certainty I know is that if allowed horses will show us how to work hard, love well, and practice patience. All that makes them a living depiction of God's beauty here on earth and one I am constantly trying to coax onto my canvas.”

Working exclusively in oil on board or canvas and self-taught, she has no memory of ever not “doing art.” She moved through mediums until finally venturing into oils and never looked back. Dorinda declares, “It is an honor and privilege to call a horse to canvas!”

Dorinda has received several awards for her artwork and has done solo shows at Sugar Creek Art Gallery, the Art Center Shelbyville Arts Council, and the Lobby Show of the Bank. She is also a member of the Pendleton Art Society, Central Indiana Equine Art Guild, and American Academy of Equine Artists.
