Hip 173: The Guiding Hand by Sherry Cobb

Oil on linen - 30" x 26"
Notes:

Sherry Cobb is an artist who sees no barriers between art and reality; both are vital functions of living. Working from her own sketches and photographs, she has developed a unique style bringing to life the details of the world she loves to paint.

When asked about how she got started in art, Sherry explains, "My Grandmother painted, my mom painted and when I was small, mom would give me a piece of paper and a pencil and tell me to draw something to entertain myself." Sherry began drawing horses and never quit. This passion led her to study the principles of watercolor, oils, anatomy, drawing, and composition at Yavapai Community College, Scottsdale Artist School, and Cowboy Artist Association workshops.

Over the years when she wasn't working on her family's ranch in southwest Colorado, she was showing her work at various galleries and shows throughout the West, including the Cowboy Christmas at the NFR in Las Vegas and Cheyenne Frontier Days. In 2004 Sherry was the World Show Artist for the American Paint Horse Association. Recently at the 2019 Cowgirl Up Art Show at the Desert Cabalaros Western Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona, Sherry won the Directors Choice Award and The Patrons Choice Award.

In 2018, after a break of several years to help with the family business, Sherry has returned to painting.
